The Ivaskas
Mike Ivaska is the lead pastor of Vashon Island Community Church. After serving as youth pastor for three years, he left to pursue a formal education. He and his wife, Nichole, returned to church staff in 2011. Mike holds a BA in Religion from Faith Evangelical College and Seminary and an MA in Theology and Culture from Northwest University. He has served as lead pastor since 2013. Nichole works at the local grocery store, managing the Human Resources department among many other important tasks beyond her department. She also serves in various capacities at the church. Their daughter Ava provides a sweet glow of happiness in everyone's life.

Nathan Seder
Nathan Seder joined the team at VICC in August 2018. He has served as music director for multiple churches in Washington State and New England. Nathan's wife Sarah is a native of Vashon Island who has completed her MA in dance and is currently the resident assistant professor of dance at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. Nathan and Sarah are enjoying the adventures of parenthood with their daughters, Ana, Aya and their son Isaiah.
Susan Darr
Susan has served VICC in several capacities over the years, from Sunday school teacher to youth ministry to worship. She currently manages our church office, is on the worship team and tries to keep Pastor Mike from getting too disorganized. As an experienced missionary and spiritual counselor, Susan provides an invaluable addition to our team.
Chris Plihal
Chris and her husband Jim (a former VICC Deacon) have served VICC for decades. They have two adult children, Jordan who currently lives in Paris, France and Jacob, an Olympian who participated in the 2024 Olympics in rowing. She serves as our Bookkeeper and in Children’s Church.
